Our Most Recent Meeting on March 23rd:
Brought to us by member Paul Linton, we welcomed two officers from District 3 of the Denver Police Department, Mike Borquez and Antonio Pacheco. They presented a comprehensive and informative program about the steps citizens can take to protect themselves, their families, their home and property from crime. They showed a number of videos of convicted criminals discussing how they break into homes and cars and steps you can take to avoid becoming a victim. The main point of the discussion was the importance of setting up neighborhood watches within each community. We would like to thank both Officer Borquez and Officer Pacheco for taking the time to educate our members on this important issue! Bryan Hunt, son of member Larry Hunt was our speaker on March 9th, 2022. He was introduced by member Doug MacCarthy. Bryan has been an Associate Producer and Production Coordinator for Octopus Theatricals. Bryan spoke about the challenges of being a producer and production co-ordinator for a myriad of different stage productions, from one person theatrical presentations on a small portable stage to large scale Broadway extravaganzas. It was a very interesting talk and we all left with a much better understanding of the complexities in making a show happen! Our speakers were Regan Linton and Brian Malone. Regan is the daughter of long time member Paul Linton. They are co-directors of the documentary film "Imperfect" The film follows the Phamaly Theatre Company, a group of actors with all nature of disabilities – including spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s Disease, cerebral palsy, autism, low vision/blind, and multiple sclerosis – as they attempt an unprecedented version of the musical Chicago. The actors open the backstage door for the viewer, giving a rare and unfiltered look at the details of their daily lives, in and out of the theatre. The film chronicles their intimate stories as they persevere against obstacles in a world that excludes them.
